Hanwood Stormwater Pump and Levee
Council received three streams of fundings for Hanwood Stormwater Pump and Levee project.
- For Stormwater Pump (Stage 1a):
Council received $1,178,782 in funding from the Natural Disaster Resilience Programs Floodplain Grants Scheme (2020/21) for the stormwater pump located at Hanwood, while Council contributing 1/3rd of the funding amount making a total project cost of $1,767,782.
The $1.767 million stormwater pump project in Hanwood is to improve the village's flood resilience.
- For Stormwater Pipes (Stage 1b)
Council received $666,667 additional funding under the 2022/23 Floodplain Management Program for the stormwater pipes along Kidman Way, Hanwood and Council contributing 1/3rd of the funding amount, making a total project cost of $1.0M
The Hanwood Stormwater Pump project (Stage 1a) includes a pumping station at Mallee Street side with associated pipe networks and the installation of a 1,500mm diameter pipe at around 3.5m depth under and along Kidman Way (Stage 1b) to convey water from the village to the pump.
The project is also implementing a pumping station with three pump units, holding a discharging capacity of around 1,000L/s and a diesel pumping option to manage any electrical blackout or power failures.
- For Hanwood Levee (Stage 2)
Council received $1,202,118 in funding from the National Flood Mitigation Infrastructure Program (NFMIP) 2020-21 for the levee along DC DA and DC HANDEPOT and raising Kidman Way as a levee, and Council contributing 1/3rd of the funding amount making a total project cost of $1,803,178.
