Kookora Street/Walla Ave Roundabout
Safety will be enhanced for local motorists with work to commence on a roundabout at the Kookora Street and Walla Avenue intersection in Griffith.
Griffith City Council received $1M from the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program to construct a single-lane roundabout including, medians, line marking, lighting and signage.
The intersection will be closed during construction for the entire 16 weeks. This is specifically Walla Avenue (between Benerembah Street and Yarrabee Street), and Kookora Street (between Griffin Avenue and Murrumbidgee Avenue), from Tuesday 6 August until Saturday 30 November 2024.
The full road closure and detour will be in place with signage advising to seek an alternative route, but access for residents only will be permitted.

Council has adjusted the project delivery timeline to complete asphalt works with available resources. It is anticipated the project will be completed by the end of January 2025.
