Exciting developments are underway at Lake Wyangan, enhancing its appeal and sustainability for the Griffith community.
South Lake Wyangan Water Treatment
Aiming for a healthier lake ecosystem, South Lake Wyangan is receiving an environmentally sustainable treatment using Enviro – Diatomix. This innovative approach targets Blue Green Algae (BGA) reduction while promoting ecological balance.
Duration: Initial dosing will be carried out weekly dosing for 18 weeks (concluding December 2024), followed by regular ongoing treatments.
Results: Results of the treatment’s effectiveness should be known within 6–12 months, during which further analysis will provide conclusive evidence. If successful, Council plans to expand the initiative to include North Lake Wyangan.
Foreshore Development: Inclusive Play for All
Thanks to $1,030,000 from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCIP) Phase 4, Council is delivering a new, inclusive foreshore playground. Expected to open by April 2025, this facility caters to children of all abilities with features like:
Adventure Multiplay Playground: Climbing nets, slides, and ground-level activities.
Fun Elements: Sand Factory, Flying Foxes, and more. Shaded areas, requested during community consultations, ensure comfort for all visitors.
Lake Wyangan’s dual focus on environmental sustainability and family-friendly amenities is set to make it a thriving destination for residents and visitors alike!
